I recently sent this out to some news hubs. It is a love letter of sorts.
We are the Four the Road family.
Rob, Gail, Dakota (15) and Luke (8).
Recently, we dipped our bicycle tires in the Pacific Ocean after biking across the United States.
The America we found isn’t the one found on the front page. It isn’t the one you watch on the 10 o’clock news.
It was ‘our’ America. The America that belongs to the people. It was the America created by the people.
I am madly in love with the America I found. More so, I am in love with the American that I found. The American people that we found.
That found us.
What is that America(n)?
It is getting maps from a retired Navy Fighter Pilot.
It is a gas station attendant buying us breakfast.
It is those whose tears we shared.
It was meeting the teachers that make you want to go back to school.
It was eating spaghetti at a strangers home, only to find out we were family, just not related.
It was inspiring others as they inspired us.
It was the honked horns that encouraged us up hills.
It was the melting pot, that indeed, melted me.
I can no sooner forget the kindnesses than I can my own reflection.
There is still a haven of rest for the weary. It is in the hearts of our brothers and sisters.
We are proud to be one of you.
The Adelphia Family
Rob, Gail, Dakota and Luke
I reckon some folks will want me to apologize for having the audacity to embrace this land I call home. That isn’t politically correct at this moment. A guy taking his family on an epic adventure probably wouldn’t care much about that sort of thing anyhow. At least, I reckon.
If you are searching for the America I love, it is closer than you think. You may not be looking in the right places.
We added some pictures that you haven’t seen., and will be adding more. We are in the process of adding more videos (please be patient, Chuck!).
Check out our new calling card. We hope to live up to it.
I am excited to mention that Gil has agreed to be the first interview on our site. We will be adding a tab titled, Fellow Adventurers, or something of the sort. I will try hard not to allow my jealousy to show…
Good night, friends.
P.S. Check out our Bucket List Adventures Page!
