Awesome People Along The Way

PURE AWESOMENESS!

We live in an awesome time and place.

A place and time filled with awesome people.

We believe in these people.

We believe in their goodness in general.

We will be interviewing people throughout our journey that,
we are confident, will reflect that.

Regardless of political, religious or any other differences we as people have,
we are still people.

We still have the same basic needs.

We still long for love, and, long to give love.

That fiber, that connection, is what we will celebrate as we move down the road.

Each of us can meet on that common road at some point.

Whether a bike trail or road, a cafe or library, your place or ours, that place where we realize for all of our differences, we are remarkably similar.

We hope to see you there.

Our awesome page would not be complete without us mentioning a few folks we know already. We can’t possibly mention everyone. Know if you aren’t mentioned it isn’t because you aren’t awesome but purely because our time is limited.

This woman always had a smile to share, encouraging words to offer, and wonderful ideas when we needed them. To our neighbor Mary, you are awesome!

David, Maria, Sarita and Adam. What can we say? We are kindred spirits. You are our family. You are us. We love you. You are awesome.

One family took it upon themselves to help us get going on our trip. They helped organize and pack and so much more. We didn’t ask for their help. They offered, because that’s who they are. Melissa, Anna and especially our wonderful Gina, you are AWESOME!

From our first phone call to JT at 4 Star Cycle to our last goodbye, he was nothing short of AWESOMENESS! His insistence on helping us even when we didn’t think we needed it (but we did!) was timely and very much appreciated. He and the rest of the Hopkins family are the very thing that make our Country great!

  1. What a great and ambitious family. We at Lee Library, Lee Florida. enjoyed their company on Tuesday morning about 11:30. All were smiling.

    • Hello Ladies,

Thank you for the kind words of encouragement! And also, thanks for warning us about those darned hills.

May the winds always be gentle, unless they’re pushing you forward!

  2. This is so great! It was great to meet y’all and I look forward to following your journey.

    Best wishes and God Bless!

    • Talk about technology…didn’t we meet you just 30 seconds ago?

You are an inspiring young man and thanks for the encouragement.

  3. I read your story by a share from a friend on Facebook who met you at Crazy Cat Cyclery in El Paso and I would just like to extend my prayers in keeping you safe on your wonderful and awe-inspiring journey as you trek across the states in your fight against cancer.
Great job family!! Keep on riding ….o7’o

    • Hey Mary Ann,

The Crazy Cat Cyclery is crazy kind! The employees know their stuff. A problem that I’ve had on my tandem since Florida that 2 other shops couldn’t fix, was fixed by Mo in a matter of minutes! That is no exaggeration. Mo, you are awesome! We cannot compliment them enough for their generosity and knowledge.

Thanks so much for the kind words…El Paso is now a major part of our story!

  4. Glad to know you are making headway. I sure hope the now-freezing temps don’t hold you up too much. However, having only an emergency blanket doesn’t seem to be enough. I love the frigid camping/cycling, but we are warm-blooded and must protect our skin/extermities to prevent under- or over-heating. You may have already passed it, but there is a Wal-Mart (Subway shares the same building–how convenient!) in DemingNM. Stay warm and safe!

    • Hey John,
The freezing temps have been challenging, but we press on. We did hit that Walmart, and did our own version of Subway in their grocer section. 🙂
We are on our way to San Simon. We managed to pedal over 60 miles yesterday!
We appreciate the heads-up, and all the encouragement!
